Wound healing effects of Plantago major extract and its chemical compounds in hyperglycemic rats

Impaired wound healing is among the serious complications of diabetes that can lead to amputation and even death. Plantago major has been used empirically improve healing. The main bioactive compounds P. extracts, ursolic acid (UA) oleanolic (OA), have also studied for their benefits with non-hyperglycemic wounds. This study was done examine in vivo effects leaf extracts (PMLE), UA, OA hyperglycemic rats, evaluate vitro diabetic activity, observe possible dermal irritation after topical application. Wound closure, duration epithelialization, histopathological profiles healed tissue were observed rats excision wounds 21 days. An anti-inflammatory test using NO inhibitory assay, a fibroblast proliferation migration assay high-glucose medium investigate mechanism action tested samples acute followed international guidelines. PMLE, increased percentage closure accelerated time. PMLE activities assessed inhibition production inflammation phase enhancement proliferation. UA may contribute this process through production, whereas activation cells. Topical applications did not cause irritation. potential conditions.
